Cancelling a ride in iSplit

Sometimes plans change and you need to cancel a ride you've ordered. iSplit makes this simple — with a few taps in the app. Whether a fee is charged depends on whether a driver has already accepted the ride and how much time has passed since they accepted. This guide explains how to cancel and when a cancellation fee applies.

How to cancel a ride

  1. Open iSplit and go to the active ride on the main screen.
  2. Tap “Cancel ride” below the ride details.
  3. Choose a reason for cancelling from the list provided (optional) and confirm.
  4. You'll get confirmation that the ride has been cancelled. If a fee applies, the amount is shown clearly before you confirm.

Cancelling before a driver accepts

If you cancel the ride while the app is still searching for a driver — that is, before any driver has accepted the request — cancelling is always free. At this stage no driver has been dispatched to you, so there's no cost.

Tip: if you're not sure about the destination or the time, wait to confirm the details before ordering. That way you avoid unnecessary cancellations.

Cancelling after a driver accepts

As soon as a driver accepts the ride, they head straight to your pickup location, spending time and fuel. So if you cancel after they've accepted, a cancellation fee may be charged.

There's a short grace period after acceptance during which cancelling is still free. Once that window passes, a fee applies. The exact grace period and cancellation fee amount are:

The fee exists to protect drivers who have already set off toward you. If the driver is significantly late or doesn't show up, cancelling is free — see the guide below.

When the fee is not charged

  • You cancel before any driver accepts the ride.
  • You cancel within the grace period right after acceptance.
  • The driver doesn't show up or is significantly late to the pickup point.
  • The driver cancels the ride from their side.

Cancelling a shared ride

If you're in a shared ride and cancel your part, the price for the remaining passengers is recalculated based on the current participants. The same rules for the time window and fee also apply to shared rides.
