Notifications in iSplit
Push notifications keep you up to date with your ride even when the app isn't open. As soon as a driver accepts your request, when the vehicle arrives and when the ride is completed, iSplit sends you a short notification on your phone or computer. This guide explains what the notifications are for and how to enable them on different devices.
What the notifications are for
The notifications are tied to the ride status, so you don't have to watch the screen the whole time. The main messages you'll receive are:
- The driver accepted your ride — along with the driver and vehicle details.
- The vehicle is on the way to you and the estimated time of arrival.
- The driver has arrived at the pickup location.
- The ride started and when it ended, with the final amount.
- An invitation and confirmation when you share a ride with another passenger.
iSplit uses notifications only for things related to your rides and account. You won't receive unnecessary promotional messages.
How to enable notifications
On your first ride request, the app will ask for notification permission. Tap „Allow“ and you're set. If you declined the permission before or want to check it, follow the steps for your device below.
Android
- Open “Settings” on your phone.
- Go to „Apps“ and select iSplit (or the browser you use it through).
- Tap „Notifications“ and turn them on.
iPhone (iOS)
- First add iSplit to your home screen via „Share“ then „Add to Home Screen“.
- Open „Settings“ on your iPhone.
- Scroll to iSplit, select „Notifications“ and allow them.
On iPhone push notifications work only after you install iSplit on your home screen as an app.
Desktop (PWA in browser)
- Open iSplit in Chrome, Edge or another modern browser.
- When the permission prompt appears, choose „Allow“ for notifications.
- To check later, click the padlock icon in the address bar and review the notification permissions for this page.
If you're not receiving notifications, make sure the permission is on and that your phone isn't in „Do Not Disturb“ mode or a battery saver that holds back messages.
How to turn them off
You can turn notifications off at any time from the same device settings where you turned them on. If you turn them off, you'll still be able to track the ride status while the app is open, but you won't get messages when it's closed.
