Flight delayed, cancelled or early: what happens to your booked transfer
If your flight to Skopje is delayed, your booked transfer moves with it. Every booking that starts at Skopje International Airport (SKP) carries your flight number, the driver checks the flight himself and plans the pickup around the time you actually land, and there is no extra charge for waiting caused by the delay. A cancelled or diverted flight is different: then you cancel the booking online or tell us what changed. This page goes through each case, plus the slow queues that can follow a late landing.

What happens to the booked transfer when your flight is late
Nothing, as long as the flight number on the booking is right. The booking form asks for a flight number on every pickup at Skopje Airport, whether you're going into the city, to Ohrid or straight on to another town. With that number the driver follows the flight and shifts the pickup to the real landing time, so after a two-hour delay the pickup moves with your flight instead of staying at the old time.
There is no automatic flight-data feed behind this. Your driver looks up the flight status himself, which is why one wrong digit in the flight number matters more than anything else on the form. Open your booking page from the confirmation email and check the flight shown there before you leave home.
The price doesn't move either. Fares are fixed per vehicle when you book, and there's no night surcharge, so a delay that pushes your landing past midnight costs the same as the slot you booked.
Extra cost for waiting during a delay
Waiting that a flight delay causes is not charged, provided the flight number is on the booking. Without a correct number that promise doesn't hold, so check it on your booking page before you fly.
We don't publish a set number of free minutes after landing, so we won't promise one here. What we can say is that the pickup follows the flight, and that a reachable phone solves most of the rest. The phone on your booking is the one the driver will call or message, with one-tap WhatsApp and Viber links.
If the flight lands early
An early arrival works the same way as a late one: the driver follows the flight and plans for the real landing time, not the timetable. You'll still have passport control, baggage claim and customs between the aircraft and the arrivals hall.
If you do come out first, stay inside the arrivals hall, connect to the free 'TAV Airports' Wi-Fi (no password) and call or message your driver on the number in your confirmation email. If your driver uses the iSplit app, you can also chat on the booking page.
Long queues at passport control or baggage claim
A late flight often lands in a bunch with others, and Skopje's arrivals area has only two baggage carousels. If the queue is long, or your suitcase doesn't arrive and you have to file a report at the Lost & Found office in baggage claim, tell your driver. A short message with your name and 'still in passport control' or 'reporting a lost bag' is enough.
Keep the phone on the booking switched on from the moment you land. Our step-by-step guide to the arrivals hall explains the order of passport control, baggage claim and customs, and where the Lost & Found office is.
Flight cancelled: cancel or rebook the transfer
If your flight is cancelled, cancel the transfer yourself from the booking page or the booking card. That works while the booking is waiting for a driver or confirmed, right up to the scheduled pickup time, and the driver is told straight away. Nothing is charged at the moment you book. If you chose PayPal and have already paid, say so when you write to us.
Bookings can't be edited by the traveller. If the airline puts you on a new flight, either cancel and book again with the new date and flight number, or write to us and ask for the change. One account holds one active transfer at a time, so cancel the old booking before you make the new one.
- Open the booking page from your confirmation email.
- Cancel the transfer while it's waiting for a driver or confirmed.
- Book again with the new date, time and flight number.
- Or write to us from the booking page and ask us to change it.
Flight diverted or moved to the next day
A diversion to another airport, or a cancellation that becomes a flight the next day, needs a decision from you, because the original pickup no longer fits. Tell us as soon as you know, using the 'Email us' button on the booking page or the contact page, and include your booking reference (8 characters, shown in the emails). If you won't land in Skopje at all, cancel the booking.
The airline has duties of its own. EU rules, which also apply in Iceland, Norway and Switzerland, cover flights leaving the EU on any airline and flights into the EU on an EU airline. They give you meals and refreshments during long delays, a hotel and transfer when the new departure is the next day, and a refund after a delay of 5 hours or more at departure. You may also get compensation when you reach your final destination 3 or more hours late, unless the airline proves extraordinary circumstances. Skopje Airport says North Macedonia's own passenger-rights law follows the same EU regulation (261/2004) and points to the country's Civil Aviation Agency for more on your rights.
Why a booked car helps when the timetable slips
If you land on time in daylight with light luggage, the official airport shuttle bus is the budget way into town, and our guide to the airport bus has the timetable. A delay is where that plan breaks: in the winter 2026/27 timetable the bus has no departures from the airport between about 19:30 and midnight, or between about 03:30 and 07:50, and on some days the gaps are longer.
A booked transfer doesn't care which of those gaps your new landing time falls into. The price per vehicle is fixed in advance, the driver works from your real landing time, and you get the driver's name, phone and car by email as soon as a driver is confirmed. If that's the plan you want, book your car from the airport with your flight number, and read about landing in Skopje late at night if the delay is likely to push you past midnight.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to my booked transfer if my flight is delayed?
It moves with the flight. The flight number on your booking lets the driver check the flight status himself and plan the pickup for the time you actually land. You don't need to rebook or call us for an ordinary delay; just make sure the flight number on your booking page is correct and the phone on the booking is switched on when you land.
Do I pay extra if the driver waits for a delayed flight?
No. If the flight number is on the booking, waiting caused by a flight delay is not charged, and the fixed price per vehicle you confirmed stays the same. There's no night surcharge either, so a delay that pushes your landing into the night doesn't change the fare. Nothing is paid when you book; you pay the driver or by PayPal as chosen.
How does the driver know my flight is late?
The driver looks up your flight himself using the flight number on the booking; there's no automatic flight-data link. That's why the flight number is required for every pickup at Skopje Airport. If the airline gives you a different flight number, write to us from the booking page so the driver checks the right flight.
My flight was cancelled. How do I cancel or rebook the transfer?
Cancel it from your booking page or booking card, which works up to the scheduled pickup time and notifies the driver. Bookings can't be edited by the traveller, so for a new flight either book again with the new date and flight number or write to us and ask for the change. Cancel the old booking first, because an account holds one active transfer at a time.
What if my flight is diverted or moved to the next day?
Tell us as soon as you know, from the booking page or the contact page, with your booking reference. If you won't land in Skopje, cancel the booking. If the new flight is the next day, cancel and book that date or ask us to change it. Where EU rules apply, the airline, not us, covers the hotel and transfer for an overnight delay.
What if my flight lands early?
The driver follows the flight and works from the real landing time, so an early arrival is handled the same way as a late one. You still go through passport control, baggage claim and customs first. If you come out before the driver, stay in the arrivals hall, connect to the free airport Wi-Fi and message or call your driver.
How do I tell you about a change to my flight?
Use the 'Email us' button on your booking page or the form on our contact page, and give your 8-character booking reference, the new flight number and the new date. Once a driver is assigned, you can also call or message the driver directly with the details from your confirmation email. There is no public support phone number.
What if I'm stuck in a long queue at passport control or baggage claim?
Message or call your driver with the phone on the booking and say where you are, for example 'in passport control' or 'reporting a lost bag'. The free 'TAV Airports' Wi-Fi works without a password if you have no mobile data. Filing a lost-luggage report at the Lost & Found office in baggage claim takes time, so let the driver know before you start.
Want a car waiting when you land?
One fixed price per vehicle. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name on a sign. Send the request and we email you as soon as your driver is confirmed.
