The drive from Skopje
The route follows the A2 motorway through Tetovo, Gostivar and Kičevo. The town beach is a short walk from the centre.

May to September is the best window — the lake is warm, the promenades are lively, and late August adds the poetry festival (check the current dates each year). Struga itself fills half a day comfortably; most visitors pair it with Ohrid, the Vevčani springs, or St. Naum Monastery.
Bring comfortable shoes for the old town's cobbles and swimwear if it's beach season. Outside summer the town is quiet and uncrowded, a good time for a long lakeside lunch instead.
