Spring and autumn are the most pleasant for walking Kalemegdan and the centre; summer is popular for Ada Ciganlija but brings longer border waits. For a day visit, half a day covers the main sights in the centre, while adding Zemun and Ada Ciganlija is worth a full day.
Museum hours vary by season, so check current hours before you go. Skadarlija is liveliest in the evening, so dinner there fits well after a day touring the city.
