On a hill above town, on the right bank of the Vardar, stands the Monastery of St. George, built in 1860, around the time the Skopje–Thessaloniki railway was under construction. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant seasons for walking around town, and September brings the grape harvest, when the whole Tikveš basin, including Negotino's own wineries, is especially lively. Summer can get hot on the plain, so midday suits the museums better than time outdoors.
