Flights from Switzerland to Skopje and Ohrid with Chair, Edelweiss, easyJet and Wizz Air

Flights from Switzerland to Skopje leave from three airports all year: Zurich, EuroAirport Basel and Geneva, with four airlines between them. Zurich and Basel also fly to Ohrid, though only a few times a week in winter. Every flight takes a little over two hours. Below is each direct route in the winter 2026/27 timetable, how summer differs, which airport suits which part of the country, and your options once you land.

Information checked

Zurich, Basel and Geneva: who flies where

Each Swiss airport has its own airlines, so the right choice depends as much on where you live and which days you need as on the fare. The figures are round trips per week in the winter 2026/27 timetable; they shift a little from week to week.

Edelweiss flights also carry SWISS (LX) flight numbers, so you may find them sold as SWISS. easyJet's Geneva flights are operated by easyJet Switzerland.

  • Zurich (ZRH) to Skopje: Chair Airlines and Edelweiss, about 9 to 10 a week between them, all year
  • EuroAirport Basel (BSL) to Skopje: Wizz Air, about 10 a week, all year
  • Geneva (GVA) to Skopje: easyJet, twice a week, all year
  • Zurich (ZRH) to Ohrid: Chair Airlines once a week in winter, more in summer; Edelweiss in peak summer and over Christmas
  • EuroAirport Basel (BSL) to Ohrid: Wizz Air twice a week in winter and three times in summer, plus GP Aviation from late June to August

Zurich: two airlines and flights on most days

Chair Airlines flies most of the Zurich to Skopje flights, about seven or eight a week in winter, and Edelweiss adds about two more. In summer 2026 the two together ran about ten a week. Having two airlines on one route gives you a choice of days and departure times, which helps when your dates are fixed by school holidays or work.

Zurich also flies to Ohrid, though in winter that comes down to one Chair Airlines flight a week plus a few holiday dates; the Ohrid section below has the details.

EuroAirport Basel: one airport, three countries

EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL) stands on French soil, has a Swiss and a French sector, and serves the Basel region, Alsace and South Baden. Wizz Air flies from there to Skopje about ten times a week, which puts it level with Zurich. Note that there were no Skopje flights from Basel between mid-April and mid-May 2026, so check your dates if you plan a spring trip.

If you live in eastern Switzerland, Friedrichshafen (FDH) on Lake Constance, just across the German border, has two to four Wizz Air flights a week to Skopje; see the routes from German airports for details.

Geneva and western Switzerland

easyJet flies from Geneva to Skopje twice a week all year, and the winter timetable adds extra flights on 6 and 10 January 2027 for the end of the holidays. For Geneva and Lausanne it is the only direct route. With two flights a week, the obvious comparison is EuroAirport Basel, which has about five times as many.

If Geneva's days don't suit you, it's worth pricing the train to Basel or Zurich against waiting for the next Geneva flight, because a cheaper fare on a day that doesn't work is no saving.

Switzerland to Skopje flight time

Every route is a little over two hours: about 2 hours 10 minutes from Zurich, 2 hours 15 minutes from EuroAirport Basel and 2 hours 20 minutes from Geneva. The Ohrid flights take about the same, around 2 hours 10 minutes from Zurich and 2 hours 15 minutes from Basel.

These are our estimates from distances and the published airport timetables, rounded to 5 minutes, not airline figures. Plan by the scheduled times on your booking.

Flights from Switzerland to Ohrid

Both Zurich and Basel fly to Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport (OHD) all year, but winter is thin. From Zurich, Chair Airlines flies once a week from November to March, with extra flights around Christmas, New Year and the end of March, and Edelweiss flies only over Christmas and New Year, from 18 December 2026 to 10 January 2027. From Basel, Wizz Air flies twice a week all winter.

Summer is busier. In summer 2026 Zurich had four to six Ohrid flights a week in July and August, and GP Aviation added two a week from Basel from late June, which may be sold mainly through travel agencies.

Ohrid Airport opens around its flight timetable, has no public bus, and we don't pick up there; the Ohrid Airport guide covers the official taxis. If the Ohrid days don't fit, fly to Skopje and continue by road: our Skopje Airport to Ohrid drive costs a fixed €145 per vehicle.

Year-round and seasonal routes from Switzerland

All three Skopje routes run all year, so you can fly from Switzerland in any month. Summer brings more Ohrid flights rather than extra Skopje routes, and holiday weeks add one-off flights, such as Geneva in early January and Zurich to Ohrid over Christmas.

The airports publish their timetables as informative and subject to change. Before you book a holiday trip, confirm the exact days with the airline, and remember that the weekly figures on this page are averages.

When you land in Skopje

At Skopje International Airport (SKP) there are three ways onwards. The cheapest is the airport shuttle bus, 199 MKD one way to three stops in the city; the guide to the airport bus has its stops and timetable. The official taxi rank charges 1,500 MKD to the city on its fixed price list. Or a car booked before you fly costs a fixed €32 per vehicle to the city, with the driver waiting in the arrivals hall (fixed-price transfers from Skopje Airport).

Take the bus if you travel light and land in the daytime. Booking a car ahead is worth it when you land in the late evening, as the winter bus timetable has no departures between about 19:30 and midnight; when you travel as a family with luggage, since the price is per vehicle; or when your final stop is outside Skopje. Straight from the airport by car, Tetovo costs €80, Kumanovo €75 and Pristina €135.

Add your flight number to the booking: the driver follows the flight and there's no extra charge for waiting caused by a delay. The flight delay guide explains what happens if your flight is late or cancelled.

Frequently asked questions

Which airlines fly from Zurich, Basel and Geneva to Skopje?

Four, all year: Chair Airlines and Edelweiss from Zurich, Wizz Air from EuroAirport Basel and easyJet from Geneva. Edelweiss flights also carry SWISS (LX) flight numbers. Zurich and Basel have about ten flights a week each in winter and Geneva has two. Weekly numbers change a little through the season, so check your dates with the airline.

Does easyJet fly from Geneva to Skopje?

Yes. easyJet, operated by easyJet Switzerland, flies from Geneva to Skopje twice a week all year, and the winter 2026/27 timetable adds extra flights on 6 and 10 January 2027. The flight takes about 2 hours 20 minutes. If Geneva's two weekly days don't suit you, EuroAirport Basel has about ten Wizz Air flights a week and Zurich about the same with two airlines.

Is EuroAirport Basel in Switzerland or France?

Both, in a way. EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL) stands on French soil but has a Swiss and a French sector, and it serves Basel, Alsace and South Baden. Wizz Air flies from there to Skopje about ten times a week all year and to Ohrid two or three times a week. Check which sector your booking uses before you travel.

How long is the Zurich to Skopje flight?

About 2 hours 10 minutes. EuroAirport Basel is about 2 hours 15 minutes and Geneva about 2 hours 20 minutes, and the Ohrid flights from Zurich and Basel take about the same. These are our estimates from the airport timetables and distances, rounded to 5 minutes; the airline's scheduled time on your booking is the one to plan by.

Can I fly from Switzerland to Ohrid in winter?

Yes, but not often. In winter 2026/27 Chair Airlines flies from Zurich once a week with a few extra holiday dates, Edelweiss flies only over Christmas and New Year, and Wizz Air flies from EuroAirport Basel twice a week. If those days don't fit, fly to Skopje, which has far more Swiss flights, and continue to Ohrid by road.

Do flights from Switzerland to Skopje run all year?

Yes. Zurich, EuroAirport Basel and Geneva all fly to Skopje in both the summer and the winter timetables. Summer adds Ohrid flights rather than new Skopje routes. One exception to watch: there were no Basel flights to Skopje between mid-April and mid-May 2026, so check the dates of any spring trip with the airline before you book.

Which Swiss airport is busiest for Skopje, Zurich or Basel?

Zurich and EuroAirport Basel are level, with about ten flights a week each in winter 2026/27. Zurich has two airlines, Chair Airlines and Edelweiss, while Basel has Wizz Air. Geneva has two easyJet flights a week. If you live between Zurich and Basel, compare both for the days you need before you choose.
