Information checked

Brussels Charleroi: the only direct route from Belgium

Only one Belgian airport has a scheduled direct flight to Skopje: Brussels South Charleroi (CRL), south of Brussels. Wizz Air flies the route, and it appears in both the summer 2026 and the winter 2026/27 airport timetables, so it runs all year. No other airline flies direct between Belgium and North Macedonia in those timetables.

The aircraft is based in Skopje: it leaves early in the morning, turns round at Charleroi and flies straight back, so the flight from Charleroi lands in Skopje around midday. The figures below are read from the airport timetables and vary a little from week to week, so treat them as a guide to how often the route flies, not as a timetable.

  • Winter 2026/27: Mondays, Fridays and Sundays all season, plus Wednesdays in some weeks and Saturdays from 19 December, so three to five flights a week
  • Summer 2026: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, plus Thursdays from mid-July to mid-September, so four to five flights a week
  • Landing in Skopje: about 11:40 to 12:35, depending on the day and the season

Belgium to Skopje flight time

Expect about 2 hours 45 minutes in the air from Charleroi to Skopje. That is our estimate from the published airport timetables, rounded to 5 minutes, not an airline figure, so plan by the scheduled times on your Wizz Air booking.

Belgium and North Macedonia both keep Central European Time, so the times on your booking need no conversion. A landing around midday is an easy time to arrive: the exchange office and the ATMs in the arrivals hall are open, and the airport bus runs during the day.

No direct flight from Brussels Airport (Zaventem), Antwerp or Liège

The current timetables show no scheduled direct flight to Skopje from Brussels Airport in Zaventem, Antwerp, Liège or Ostend. To fly from Zaventem on a single ticket, look for a connection through a hub with frequent Skopje flights: Austrian Airlines through Vienna (10 or 11 a week), Turkish Airlines through Istanbul (about 12 a week) or Air Serbia through Belgrade (about 14 a week). Check with the airline whether it sells that connection from Brussels, and see our overview of the airlines that fly to Skopje for the rest.

If you'd rather fly direct and the Charleroi days don't suit you, the nearest routes leave from just across the border, all of them with Wizz Air. The Dutch routes are on our Eindhoven and Maastricht page, Cologne and Dortmund on the flights from Germany page and Beauvais on the flights from France page:

  • Eindhoven (EIN), the Netherlands: three or four flights a week until 29 January 2027; the airport closes to all flights from 1 February to 19 July 2027, and Wizz Air moves the route to Maastricht from 29 March 2027
  • Cologne Bonn (CGN), Germany: four or five flights a week in winter 2026/27
  • Dortmund (DTM), Germany: about one flight a day
  • Paris Beauvais (BVA), France: about two flights a week in winter 2026/27

Charleroi to Skopje in winter and in summer

The Charleroi route flies in both seasons, so you can travel between Belgium and Skopje in any month. What changes is the days: the winter 2026/27 timetable drops the summer Thursday flight, flies on Wednesdays only in some weeks and adds Saturdays from 19 December, which helps over the Christmas holidays.

The airports publish their timetables as informative and subject to change, the winter timetable runs only until late March 2027, and in October 2026 Wizz Air announced cuts on some of its Skopje routes. Check the days for your exact dates with Wizz Air before you book time off or ask family to meet you.

Flights from Belgium to Ohrid

There is no direct flight from Belgium to Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport (OHD) in the Ohrid timetables for summer 2026 or winter 2026/27. The nearest direct options are Wizz Air from Dortmund, about twice a week all year, and TUI fly Netherlands from Amsterdam, about three times a week from mid-May to September in 2026; the Ohrid Airport guide covers what happens after you land there.

Most travellers from Belgium heading for the lake fly from Charleroi to Skopje and continue by road. Because the Charleroi flight lands around midday, you can be in Ohrid the same afternoon: we drive from Skopje Airport to Ohrid for a fixed €145 per vehicle (Skopje Airport to Ohrid by road).

After you land in Skopje

North Macedonia is outside the EU and the Schengen Area, so arriving from Belgium means a full passport check before baggage claim. What to have ready is in our arrivals and documents guide.

The airport shuttle bus costs 199 MKD one way to three stops in the city, and a midday landing fits its daytime departures; the Skopje Airport bus guide has the timetable. The official airport taxi rank charges 1,500 MKD to the city on its fixed price list. Or you book a car before you fly: we charge a fixed €32 per vehicle to the city, and the driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name on a sign (fixed-price transfers from Skopje Airport).

A car booked ahead makes most sense with children and luggage, or if you're going straight on to another town, such as Tetovo for €80 by car. Put your flight number in the booking so the driver can follow the flight; what happens if it runs late is explained in the flight delay guide.
