Flights from London to Skopje: Luton is the only direct route
Wizz Air UK flies from London Luton (LTN) to Skopje International Airport (SKP), and it is the only scheduled direct route between the United Kingdom and Skopje in both the summer 2026 and the winter 2026/27 airport timetables. There is no direct flight from Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham or Edinburgh, so wherever you live in the UK, the direct option means getting to Luton.
How often it flies depends on the season. In summer 2026 there was a flight every day. In the winter 2026/27 timetable it drops to two or three a week, and in October 2026 Wizz Air said Luton would be among the Skopje routes with fewer flights from January. In winter the flights land in Skopje in the evening, most of them around 22:00 local time.
- Airline: Wizz Air UK, flight numbers starting W9
- Summer 2026: about 7 round trips a week
- Winter 2026/27: 2 to 3 a week, with cuts announced from January 2027
- Flight time: about 3 hours 10 minutes, by our estimate
- Winter landing time in Skopje: usually late evening
UK to Skopje flight time and the time difference
Expect about 3 hours 10 minutes in the air from Luton to Skopje. That figure is our estimate from the published airport timetables, rounded to 5 minutes, not an airline figure, so plan by the times on your booking.
North Macedonia runs on Central European Time, one hour ahead of the UK in winter and in summer. A flight that leaves Luton at 18:00 UK time and takes three hours lands at about 22:00 in Skopje. Airline times are always local at each end, and so is the pickup time on any booking you make in Skopje: we ask for it in Skopje local time, whatever time zone you book from.
Year-round and summer routes from the UK
Luton to Skopje is the one route that flies all year, so you can get from the UK to Skopje in any month. What changes is the number of days: daily in summer, two or three days a week in winter. If you're travelling for Christmas, New Year or the school holidays, check that your dates have a flight before you plan anything else, because the airports publish their timetables as informative and subject to change.
Ohrid is summer only from the UK. A few extra charter flights also appear: in autumn 2026 Freebird Europe runs a weekly multi-stop charter that calls at Manchester and London, but charters are not regular routes and their dates vary.
Looking further ahead, the UK and North Macedonia signed a new air services agreement in London on 22 October 2025. It is not yet in force, and it doesn't announce any new route. Once it applies, airlines from both sides can choose their own frequencies and fares, which may make new routes easier to start.
Flights from London to Ohrid with TUI in summer
TUI Airways flew once a week to Ohrid from London Gatwick (LGW) and from Manchester (MAN) in summer 2026, from late May to mid-September. These are TUI holiday flights, so check with TUI whether flight-only seats are on sale for your dates. On 1 November 2026 neither route had a confirmed summer 2027 schedule, and neither flies in winter. The flight takes about 3 hours 5 minutes from Gatwick and about 3 hours 25 minutes from Manchester, again by our estimate.
Ohrid Airport is about 10 km from the town and has no public bus, and we don't pick up there; the guide to Ohrid Airport covers the official taxis and car rental. Outside the TUI season the practical way to Lake Ohrid is to fly into Skopje and continue by road. A car booked with us from Skopje Airport to Ohrid costs a fixed €145 per vehicle, as set out on the Skopje Airport to Ohrid page.
Direct flights to Skopje from beyond the UK: who flies there
Skopje Airport handled about 3.2 million passengers in 2025, with 15 airlines flying to 49 destinations. Wizz Air flies most of the routes and keeps a growing fleet in Skopje: in 2026 it announced a seventh aircraft based there. Low fares to Skopje are mostly on Wizz Air, but we don't track ticket prices, so compare on the airlines' own sites.
Wizz Air also flies to Skopje from many cities in Germany, Italy, Sweden and Switzerland. Our guides to flights from Germany, flights from Italy, flights from Sweden and Zurich, Basel and Geneva list those routes, and the guide to flights from Istanbul and Turkey covers Turkish Airlines, Pegasus and AJet.
If the Luton days don't fit, or you're flying from North America, Australia or anywhere else without a direct route, you'll change planes. These airlines fly into Skopje from their hubs all year:
- Istanbul: Turkish Airlines from Istanbul Airport, Pegasus and AJet from Sabiha Gökçen
- Vienna: Austrian Airlines, 10 or more flights a week
- Zurich: Edelweiss and Chair Airlines
- Athens: Aegean Airlines
- Belgrade: Air Serbia
- Zagreb: Croatia Airlines
After you land in Skopje
Arriving from the UK is a normal passport check: North Macedonia is not in the Schengen area, and the EU's Entry/Exit System doesn't apply when you enter the country. Check the entry rules for your own passport before you fly.
There are three realistic ways into the city. The airport shuttle bus costs 199 MKD and stops at three points in Skopje; the Skopje Airport bus guide has the stops and timetable. The official taxi rank charges 1,500 MKD to the city on its published price list. Or you book a car before you fly: we charge a fixed €32 per vehicle to the city, and the driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name on a sign (fixed-price transfers from Skopje Airport).
The bus is the cheapest choice and works well if you land by day with light bags. The Luton timing changes that in winter: the bus timetable has no departures between about 19:30 and midnight, so a 22:00 landing means waiting for the night bus. A car booked ahead also makes sense for a family with luggage, since the price is per vehicle, or if you're heading beyond Skopje, for example straight to Tetovo for €80 or to Pristina for €135 by car.
Put your flight number in the booking: the driver follows the flight, and there's no extra charge for waiting caused by a delay. The flight delay guide explains what happens if your plans change. You can book as soon as your flight is confirmed, so once you have your Luton dates, book your Skopje Airport transfer; nothing is paid when you book.

Frequently asked questions
Is Wizz Air UK the only airline flying from the UK to Skopje?
Yes, for direct scheduled flights. Wizz Air UK's London Luton route is the only one between the UK and Skopje in the summer 2026 and winter 2026/27 timetables. A few Freebird Europe charters call at London and Manchester in autumn 2026, but they are not regular routes. Every other way from the UK to Skopje involves a change of plane.
Can I fly direct to Skopje from Heathrow, Gatwick or Manchester?
No. London Luton is the only UK airport with scheduled direct flights to Skopje. Gatwick and Manchester have direct summer flights to Ohrid with TUI Airways, not to Skopje. From Heathrow or regional airports you can connect through Vienna, Istanbul or Zurich, which all have direct flights to Skopje all year.
How long is the flight from London to Skopje?
About 3 hours 10 minutes from London Luton, by our estimate from the airport timetables, rounded to 5 minutes. Skopje is one hour ahead of the UK all year, so a flight that leaves Luton at 18:00 UK time lands at about 22:00 local time. Plan by the scheduled times on your airline booking.
Does the London Luton to Skopje flight run all year?
Yes, but not every day. It flew daily in summer 2026 and runs two or three times a week in the winter 2026/27 timetable, and in October 2026 Wizz Air announced fewer Luton flights from January 2027. If you're travelling at Christmas, New Year or during school holidays, check the exact days with Wizz Air before you plan around them.
Are there direct flights from the UK to Ohrid?
Only in summer. TUI Airways flew once a week from London Gatwick and from Manchester to Ohrid between late May and mid-September 2026; these are holiday flights, so check whether TUI sells flight-only seats. Neither route flies in winter, and summer 2027 was not confirmed on 1 November 2026. The year-round alternative is to fly to Skopje and continue by road.
Which airlines fly to Skopje?
Wizz Air flies most routes, from across Europe, and Wizz Air UK covers London Luton. The year-round hub connections are Turkish Airlines, Pegasus and AJet from Istanbul, Austrian Airlines from Vienna, Edelweiss and Chair Airlines from Zurich, Aegean from Athens, Air Serbia from Belgrade and Croatia Airlines from Zagreb. easyJet flies from Geneva. Other airlines add summer and charter flights.
Want a car waiting when you land?
One fixed price per vehicle. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name on a sign. Send the request and we email you as soon as your driver is confirmed.
